On the road from Ibri toward Saudi Arabia, the terrain can appear as a completely flat desert with bright pink-greyish soil. The road is noted for very wide shoulders and very good condition; the southern portion runs straight to the northeast, while the northern section curves more and can have more shrubs.

South of Ibri on Road 29, the landscape is fairly shrubby. Low, jagged mountains lie on the eastern side of the road.

In and near Adam, coverage is usually hazy. Ridges and hills may be visible to the north, sometimes with only one or two visible, and mountains are not seen in other directions.

Road 45 and the western stretch of Road 39 share a slightly hilly desert landscape, sunny weather, a general east-to-west direction, light-coloured road shoulders, and a mostly faded white middle line. Road 39 has the sun overhead, while on Road 45 it appears to the west; the section north of Mudayy is also Road 45 but is unlabelled on Google Maps.

The ridge east of Mirbat is more pronounced than the Salalah ridge. The terrain just south of it is more rugged and hilly.
